BGAmedia has been helping businesses and nonprofits large and small to succeed since 1984. Back then, we were a team of writers, artists, and technologists hired to solve marketing and communications problems creatively in what has come to be called “traditional media.” Print, broadcast, outdoor advertising were our forté.

In the 1990s, we evolved into a web development house, among the very first pioneering firms to develop commercial websites, including content for AOL. We also wrote the first book about Internet safety and freedom under the auspices of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, called “Protecting Yourself Online.”

In the 2000s, we pioneered Web 2.0 building user-created content sites like Wholelife Network and e-Commerce sites and applications for businesses from $50k to $200Mil in revenue.

The 2010s have had us working heavily in social media and integrating network presences into our clients websites and business processes.

And all through these decades, we have maintained a parallel track that included event production and promotion, including conferences, expos, festivals, theater, concerts, and more.

The Core Team

The BGAteam is led by Robert Gelman, a veteran Fortune 500 marketing and management executive who became active on the Internet in the early 1990’s where he was instrumental in working with the Electronic Frontier Foundation and others in developing guidelines for freedom, safety, and privacy online.

His background includes over 35 years creating marketing and advertising plans, writing and directing and producing print, broadcast and online advertising, plus over 25 years creating websites, email campaigns, and over a dozen years making businesses and nonprofits successful in social media.

His work has included some of the earliest successful e-commerce websites and interactive media ventures. He was a contributing editor to Interactivity Magazine, as well as a regular columnist in Keyboard Magazine and Music and Computers. His writing has also been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle’s Editorial page on a variety of issues.

Aftab Ahmad
Aftab is a seasoned Senior Software Engineer and Development Team Lead at BGAmedia, where he has been providing client services since 2016. Boasting nearly eight years of professional experience, Aftab is renowned for his innovative problem-solving skills, which have made him an indispensable asset to the company. In situations where a solution does not already exist, Aftab is adept at creating one from scratch. His expertise spans a wide range of domains, including web application development, e-commerce solutions, and mobile app development.

In addition to his technical prowess, Aftab is also a proficient team leader, guiding a team of highly skilled professionals with expertise in WordPress, front-end development, SEO, social media marketing, graphic design, and UI/UX design. His leadership has been instrumental in the successful execution of numerous large-scale app projects, particularly in the e-commerce and OTT platforms.

Aftab’s daily responsibilities involve overseeing a team of thirty developers and designers, ensuring the smooth progress of complex projects. His professional reach extends across the USA, Europe, and the Middle East, where he has made significant contributions to the tech industry. Aftab holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and is an avid hiker, often finding solace in the mountains.

Elizabeth Rousseau is our primary graphic designer with skills in publication design and layout, photo preparation for print and web use, and graphics design. She works both in traditional fine art media and digitally in Adobe Illustrator. She is proficient in Photoshop and InDesign.

Elizabeth’s past projects have included web and logo mark design; her recent work has also included book design, with three photo-book titles completed in the last year.

She is experienced behind the camera and is an accomplished macro photographer, currently developing a book on California Native Wildflowers. Elizabeth holds a degree in Film and Video from California College of the Arts.

Samuel Lund is the technical director of our rich media department. He was responsible for the creation of two television production facilities and specializes in broadcast-quality content output. If your project dictates any type of storytelling that requires videography, editing, special effects, and animation, Sam is the man we count on to provide cost-effective creative solutions.
